Another day in the mountains, this time i decided to take a couple of photos. we met up with the mountaineers(well just our group) and headed for Mt. Baker. It was my first time to the cascades and all i can say is that i love the olympics but wow! this place makes them look like rolling hills. Some mountains looked like shark fins from the wind, just absolutely breath taking views. we camped just below mt baker at 6000'. First day was sunny, next day was sprinkling. The highlight and main purpose of the trip was to experience what it is like to drop into a crevasse. I didn't want to drop the picture taker, so i didn't take any photos, but i can try and describe. It was about 60'-80' down, all the shades of blue you can imagine, jagged edges, and over hanging lips. just hanging there about 20' in listening to the drops of water was cool. We learned how to set up anchors and pulleys to rescue someone if they did fall in....oh boy is it technical. it all comes down to just little details, like the gates of the biners have to be facing up and toward the initial and main dead man anchors. well, that's enough typing for me, next week we go to ingals peak for rock climbing, week after is rainier, then baker. thanks for reading!
